B Investments exits Infinity Solar projects in USD 8.25 mn deal

B Investments (BINV) has approved the full exit from its investments in the Infinity Solar 1, 2, and 3 solar energy projects, according to a filing with the Egyptian Exchange. The transaction is valued at USD 8.25 million (about EGP 402.68 million), with the board authorizing its chairman to complete all legal procedures required to finalize the sale.
Refresher
B Investments first invested in the three Benban solar plants in 2017, backing 130MW of generation capacity alongside Infinity Solar under Egypt's Feed-in-Tariff program. The projects were financed through shareholder loans to allow investors to recover cash flows despite accounting losses driven by non-cash items such as depreciation and hedging costs.
What's next
Beyond renewables, B Investments is continuing to expand into consumer-focused sectors. Earlier this year, its subsidiary OB Financial Holding (OFH) received competition approval to acquire an initial 25% stake in Brown Nose Coffee in a deal valuing the coffee chain at around EGP 1.5 billion. The investment forms part of B Investments' plan to deploy EGP 2–3 billion across education, food, and healthcare over 2026–2027.

Orascom Pyramids bets on Shakira and sports events to hit USD 4.1 million revenue target

Orascom Pyramids Entertainment, a subsidiary of Orascom Investment (OIH) managing visitor experience at the Giza Plateau, is targeting EGP 200 million (USD 4.1 million) in revenues this year and breakeven by 2027, CEO Amr Gazarin said, as the company doubles down on big-ticket events and sports as its primary revenue engine.
A USD 10 million upgrade
To get there, the company is pumping roughly USD 10 million into new infrastructure — a fleet of 30 electric multi-stop tour buses, and a lightweight steel outdoor venue capable of seating up to 15,000 spectators. This is part of a broader plan to raise its total investment at the Grand Egyptian Museum and Giza Pyramids area to roughly EGP 2 billion by 2027.
From Shakira to boxing
Colombian pop star Shakira is booked for a November concert at the Pyramids, following in the footsteps of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Black Eyed Peas, which have performed at the site over the past decade. Gazarin said the company is also eyeing more sporting events along the lines of May's heavyweight boxing bout featuring Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk.
How the business model works
The Egyptian government collects all Pyramids ticket revenue directly, leaving OPE to generate income from renting five on-site venues to event organizers, VIP tours, sponsorship deals, restaurant ownership, and retail leasing. The company holds a government concession with 10 years remaining, under which it has already invested USD 30 million in new services launched in spring 2025. An affiliated Orascom Investment subsidiary also signed a EGP 963 million financing agreement with CIB last year to fund the redevelopment of the Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids site.

Egypt in Focus

💵 Egypt's net international reserves climbed to a record USD 55.1 billion at the end of June, rising by nearly USD 1.9 billion from May, according to data from the Central Bank of Egypt. The increase was fueled by stronger foreign currency inflows, including higher exports, booming tourism receipts, and record remittances from Egyptians abroad, which reached USD 41.5 billion in 2025.
🌍 Egypt retained its position as Africa's largest recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2025, attracting USD 15.4 billion, according to a new report by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. While North Africa's overall FDI inflows fell 56% after the one-off Ras El Hekma megadeal in 2024, Egypt's underlying investment momentum remained strong, supported by the USD 3.5 billion Alam El Roum project and continued interest from global investors
